Sunset Vet Birthday and Charity Fundraiser

A year ago on 27th March 2013, Sunset Vet was born! To celebrate this 1st birthday a party was held to support several wonderful local causes.

The first was Yayasan Sole Men Indonesia, who work tirelessly to help the poor and disadvantaged in Bali by focusing on individual cases of immense suffering and providing immediate help. Solemen are in the process of completing their first permaculture garden in a poor village in Denpasar to encourage self sufficiency plus raised self esteem within the community. In addition to feeding families this program, the first of many, will supply a surplus to provide an income for them.

The second cause was an ongoing local street dog neutering project managed by the triumvirate of Holly's Queue, I Love Bali Dogs and Saving Bali Puppies and Dogs. These are passionate dog lovers with huge hearts that devote their time to reducing the numbers and mortality of puppies born on the streets in Badung regency through targeted neutering programmes.

Thursday 27th March 2014 saw hundreds of people join the party, spilling out into the Sunset Vet car park. Even a 30 minute powercut and generator malfunction couldn't dampen the spirit as the band kept playing in the candlelight!

During the evening the guests enjoyed delicious canapés from Petitenget Restaurant, Zen Sushi, Sushimi and Ole Ole Ollie Cupcake Shop and wine from Plaga and Indowines. Among the highlights were the sexy dancers on stilts from Hard Rock Hotel in Kuta, stunning body-painted models, amazing magician Ceremco, fabulous sitar player Dona jamming with percussionist, awesome guitarist Bobby Putra, talented caricaturist Wayan Tama and a zany photo booth operated by the splendid Lady Marmelade salon.

The evening concluded with a 'Celebrity Art Auction' featuring unique colourful hand finished prints by celebrated artist Yaari Rom, and a raffle with dozens of prizes generously donated by friends of Sunset Vet and Solemen.

Such was the turnout that the bar was drunk dry before the night was over - mental note to Sunset vet: buy more booze next time!

Many thanks to the generous sponsors and raffle prize donators, and all those who came on the night and supported these wonderful causes.
